Week 24: Cut yourself some slack, you’re only human

It’s 4:46 pm on a Friday as I write this; through this week’s complete chaos of work, writing and submitting assignments, and preparing for end-of-term presentations, I had completely forgot about writing this week’s reflection story.

But that’s okay.

2 years ago, I would have panicked and felt like I have failed for not being able to keep up with what I’d said I would do. But today, I know, it’s okay to slip up sometimes.

Sometimes life takes over the steering wheel, it throws you some curveballs, and you are no longer in control. Sometimes it gets overwhelming , the endless to-do lists — that pile of laundry sitting in the corner, the vacuum cleaner staring at you, the administrative stuff you need to go through in life (like taxes, and exchanging currencies for a study trip abroad)…

Maybe when that happens, we should just do what is important, and do what we can. And everything else can wait.

Although the to-do-list hasn’t completely been checked off, I have completed the most pressing tasks and I have done what I can. It is a Friday evening, and I think I will spend some time resting my mind and winding down instead.

The road is still long ahead.

And hey, turns out maybe this piece is a reflective story too.

Albeit, a short one.

I packed up 8 years of my life in Melbourne in December 2021 to move to Singapore to be closer to home and also to explore the world outside of what I already knew. This is a year-long series of weekly reflections on #myvoyagehome. Thank you for being a part of my journey.
